We went to our favorite little breakfast spot in Houston where I ordered the “Green Eggs” – That’s eggs scrambled with spinach-artichoke dip and Monterey Jack cheese, served with a side chicken-apple sausage and fried potatoes. Oh, did I mention the English Muffin buttered and toasted to perfection and a table full of cute little jellies to choose from. Then there’s the fair-trade coffee that love to sweeten with cream and honey. So much temptation!
Eggs, cheese, chicken sausage, cream, honey – these are all just a few reasons why I’ll never be a full-on vegan. (Sorry animals. Sorry vegans.)
The fact is we humans LOVE our comfort food!
We all have a sweet tooth and we all love how we feel when we have just the right amount of caffeine pulsing through our veins.
That is until your energy crashes and you go into a food coma only too find that you can’t go to sleep 14 hours later. Especially if you are someone who considers yourself to be highly sensitive person to sugar and caffeine.
What feels good and yummy at the time can wreak havoc on your energy levels, mood and immune system for hours and even days later.
Which is why I am going to go on and lead a gentle food-based cleanse next week to restore harmony and balance to my body and being – and why I’d like for you to join me.

While I have my moments of struggling with emotional eating (too much sugar, comfort foods, etc) most of the time I live a very healthy lifestyle and have cleansed 1-2 times a year for the past 10 years. I used cleansing and changes in my diet and lifestyle to successful heal myself from major depression and get off of six medications that I was told I’d need to take for the rest of my life.
I’ve cleansed with the changing of each season, have been on extended juice fasts, Master Cleanses, and have tried just about every type of cleansing kit and program out there that exists. I’ve done cleanses for my colon, liver/gallbladder, lungs, kidney/bladder and blood. I’ve cleansed for parasites, Candida, heavy metals and other toxins. I’ve lived for weeks at a time on just green juices and super food smoothies and have tried all sorts of Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic and Western cleansing herbs.
And as powerful as cleansing at those deep levels can be…. This is not that.
